ANTI All Genders Barber brings inclusive haircuts to St Peter's Gate

A haircut should feel like a treat, yet for many people it can be daunting. On St Peter's Gate in Nottingham city centre, ANTI All Genders Barber has set out to change that, offering what its website calls "excellent hair for every head".
Owner Harry Souter began as a traditional high street hairdresser around fifteen years ago before moving to Lincolnshire, where he honed his barbering. After arriving in Nottingham in 2022 he noticed a lack of inclusivity for trans and non-binary people in barbers and salons, especially as more clients came to him for modern cuts such as wolf cuts, shags and mullets.
The name, he told LeftLion in April 2026, was deliberate. "It was a bit on the nose," he said. "We were trying to be different from other shops." The biggest change was pricing. Rather than charging by gender, ANTI's services are described by the cut and the time it needs, from a quick ten-minute Detail to the 40-minute Transform for big restyles or very thick, curly or coily hair.
Harry has become known for gender-affirming cuts. "I've built up a bit of a reputation for chopping lots of hair off, and giving people a cut that is closer to their personality, not on how they look," he said. Some clients travel from outside Nottingham to see him.
Inclusivity extends to neurodivergent clients, who can choose quiet appointments without the usual small talk. The shop itself is designed to feel relaxed, with a pink colour scheme chosen because the team "really didn't want it to feel like a typical lads' barbershop".
Clients clearly approve. On its booking page, ANTI holds a 5.0 rating from 366 reviews, and the shop is currently recruiting two experienced barbers or stylists to join an explicitly inclusive team.
Harry hopes to grow, perhaps with a bigger shop and colour services, and to bring in new talent. His message to clients is simple: "We'll keep on cutting your hair, for as long as you keep coming."
ANTI All Genders Barber is at 8-10 St Peter's Gate, and appointments can be booked through its website.
