Mansfield Town supporters have enjoyed plenty of good days under Nigel Clough, and the 2025-26 season added some of the best. The Stags finished tenth in League One and, in the FA Cup, went on a run that took them all the way to a fifth-round meeting with Arsenal.

The cup adventure began at home with a 3-2 win over Harrogate Town in November, followed by a 2-2 draw at Accrington Stanley that Mansfield won 3-1 on penalties.

Then came the headline results. In January 2026, Mansfield won 4-3 at Sheffield United in front of 17,514 at Bramall Lane, with two goals from Reed and others from Lucas Akins and Rhys Oates. In February they went to Turf Moor and beat Burnley 2-1, with Oates and Reed on target, for the club's first cup victory over top-flight opposition since 1969.

That set up a fifth-round tie with Arsenal at Field Mill on 7 March 2026. Mansfield, among the lowest-ranked sides left in the competition, gave a great account of themselves before losing 2-1, with Will Evans scoring for the Stags in front of 9,260.

There was a big occasion in the League Cup too, when Mansfield played Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in front of 48,583.

In the league, Clough's side finished with 65 points from 46 games, winning 16, drawing 17 and losing 13. They signed off in style on 2 May with a 5-4 home win over Cardiff City. Evans and Oates were joint top scorers in all competitions with 11 goals each, and Akins led the league scoring with nine.

It all adds to a proud history. The club was formed in 1897 as Mansfield Wesleyans, became Mansfield Town in 1910 and has played at Field Mill since 1919. Clough has been in charge since November 2020 and led the Stags to promotion to League One in 2023-24.
